You can switch your root node. Right-click in open space, pick new, look under root for Cycles. It won't be used unless you check the Firefly and/or Superfly checkboxes, but if you do it will replace the other one.

But you can have some materials on your figure use one type of root node and other materials use a different one. It's not a problem.
