@Lux thanks for pointing that important fact about normal maps colorspace. This is especially critical for human skin in my Iclone/CC3 based Character animation pipeline.

I use the Reallusion supplied "micro normals" from their "Digital human Shader" system ported over to Blender via FBX from CC3.

If I Dont switch to non-color my characters skin turns flat Black completely wrong & useless.?

Re: uprading past 2.79 For years I made honest attempts to become a Blender user in the Pre 2.8+ era, even the so called "Blender for artists" versions and was always sent running back to C4D.?

After finishing my six year long animated feature length film project, I was so desperate to Dump my aged C4D(R11.5 studio) and Move away from the Mac OS to windows, that I was in the early stages of migrating to an old seat of the ( likely Doomed) Lightwave3D 2015 I had acquired for Win 10 on the cheap.

Then came Blender 2.8 that ,for once, actually lived up to the over used idiom "Game changer"

To each their own of course.?

However there is so much third party support for Blender in addition to the powerful native tools and Video tutorials for users at every level that in a matter of weeks I went from total Blender newb to having my work featured in an article over at Blender nation.?

And there is an amazing free Plugin called diffeomorphic that Ports Daz content& G8 figures over to Blender with joint corrective morphs and Conversion of Daz IRay materials to Cycles for stills & animation

Many former Maxon C4D users have reported similar experiences after leaving Maxon over its subscription based model as it costs nothing to give Blender 2.9 a try.?
