Had this issue myself with Genesis 8 figures not only did mine turn black but they got spagettified like I had black hole lurking somewhere in the scene, I couldn't figure it out in Poser 11 so I did a new install and that fixed it

I'm surprised your having any trouble with legacy content that's weird.
