First thing to try is opening DS and going to the Help pull down and looking at the error log. At the very bottom of the log you should see the load process from when you started DS. Look just before that for the previous run to see if you can spot where the load process broke.
Second thing to try is to start uninstalling whatever recent G8F products you last installed. Odds are its one of those.
Third thing to try is to locate the G8F Starter Essentials. Uninstall it, then reinstall it. You can do this without uninstalling and reinstalling your other content.
