Subject: Laptop fans constantly runs with P12

I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this, my apologies!

When I have Poser 12 running, even with it minimized and nothing loaded, my laptop fans constantly run. It only stops if I close the program. I was wondering why and how I can avoid it?

My laptop is pretty powerful, built for this type of thing and gaming. Here are my specs:

Intel Core i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz

Ram: 16.0 GB

GeForce GTX 1070

Display: 25x1440, 120Hz

Poser Pro 11 (always updated to current version available) . Laptop Specs: Intel Core i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz :: 16 GB Ram :: Windows 10 Pro

You might see if you can check which component is running warm. My computer kept overheating and I kept cleaning the dust from my CPU. Then I checked temperatures and found out it was the hard drive. My fan barely runs now. I'm not saying it is your drive, just an example of needing to know where to look. There is software out there that can help monitor temperatures. I use speccy.

And of course, there's the old standby advice, keep it off soft surfaces, don't block vents, keep the fan clean, point a 15000 btu window air conditioner directly on it.

One thing that could eventually be responsible: is your Poser installation actually set to reindex everything each time you launch it?

"Edit > Preferences" or Ctrl-K and then:

Please note there was also an issue with the default texture cache size being too small for most startup projects, causing cpu spikes at launch to rebuild the cache.  You may want to check your windows poser.ini/poser prefs on mac. From release notes:

- Improved texture cache performance by increasing the default max size for Poser temp texture cache from 500MB to 1GB. Reduces CPU usage on launch. #1086
NOTE: Users with an existing poser.ini setting will still the use the default max size of 500M or the value they set.
