Good move, if it can be enforced. We seem to have heard this sort of thing before, and it hasn't fixed the problem. But, regrettably, the above new notice has not had enough thought put into it.
Problem: It seems to prevent those making a valid freebie (i.e. a plugin, 3D accessories, clothing textures, or scripts) from using a 3D figure render to promote their freebie. For instance, I make a Python script and want to illustrate it in action. It seems I now have to also make my own figure(!!) in order to demonstrate my freebie to downloaders. This is obviously an utterly ridiculous situation.
Solution: If the above wording is not corrected then the policy will drive away most makers of 3D scripts and freebies. I suggest the guidance needs the following simple addition to fix it....
"The policy only applies if your freebie is classed by us as being 2D 'tubes', backgrounds, cutouts or scenes."
