Finally there's Numba which can turn regular Python code into machine code *while* the script is running (some call this just-in-time or JIT compilation). Like Numpy, it needs the code to be written in special ways to be effective, but those special ways are much easier to achieve than Numpy's special ways. It's the best thing since sliced bread, but not included in Poser, so can't be relied on it for this project.
