Christophe Grenier's free Windows disk recovery utility TestDisk can read mechanical hard-drive sectors/clusters directly, and (slowly) copy off selected folders. That assumes it is just the drive's headers that are corrupted, perhaps by a power-surge (often the case). Hopefully there is nothing mechanical wrong with the drive, such as nasty rattling or buzzing sound to be heard.

As for Poser 11, it sounds like you have the old Smith Micro version. So far as I recall, the old serial should work with a new Bondware version of Poser 11?
