What does your skirt geometry look like? The geometry of a circle or conical skirt are best stored as a circle or cone so the folds can come in during drape, in the shape preferred by the simulation engine. This can also avoid initial poke.

Good idea, although in this case the skirt is a double circle, so the folds are unavoidable.
