Each room has and maintains its own setup and doesn't transcend from one room to another.  A bit inconvenient when you want certain features or scripts to remain open or in place.  The only way around it is to make sure that the UI for every room is set the way you like it and save it back through the General Preference window.  

I agree with the Library's behavior, more can be done to make it user-friendly, perhaps a back-and-forward feature controlled by mouse buttons found in all current browsers.
