Subject: Octane Render for Poser

ProudApache ( ) posted Sun, 06 April 2014 at 9:49 PM · edited Wed, 11 December 2024 at 6:30 AM

Evening everyone:-)

Does anyone know where I could find some tuts on Octane render for Poser?  I'm having problems with it, like how do I import the scene to Poser into the stand alone octane render?  Thanks in advance.

There is a plugin for poser which converts the materials for octane and allows you to adjust the materials and then render directly in Octane (available on the Otoy site)

If you want to use the standalone Octane render, you can do an OBJ export and import the OBJ in Octane. It will make it a lot easier if you do a "Colllect Scenery" to a new folder to get all the textures in one location and store the export OBJ there. If not, you may have to locate and load each of the textures manually in Octane.

The plugin is a lot easier

Let´s bring that topic up again. Since I still use my Poser 11 Pro...I wanted to improve my render. So I wanted to try the Octane Render demo.
Installation fine but viewport keeps white...until I put the progress saving to ON. BUT: that only works with full version. (Are you kidding?)

Nonetheless... I went to the shop on their website to download Octane...but it´s only available for other applications there...like blender...c4...daz...but no option for poser anymore. (Funfact...on the Index Site of the shop you can click on poser and it shows the system requirements.

I´m bit p.....ed to be honest.

Is there any chance? Or maybe another (still available) render plugin for better render?

Once you're logged in, you have one subscription for the full ecosystem, Poser11's plugin included
https://home.otoy.com/render/octane-render/purchase/

And if you head over to the Poser-dedicated forum, you will have access to a version that runs on Poser12 and Poser13 only:

Personally, I was used to Octane up to Poser11. I stopped with Poser12 and Poser13: not worth the price, especially with Poser13, in terms of speed.

Only Poser 12/13 are now supported with the current version of Octane.

Poser 12 changed to a newer version of Python and the Poser plugin has been updated to support that.

I have used Octane since it was released as beta and am very happy with it.

Poser 13/Superfly has caught up with regards to speed, but lacks some features which I really like such as cloning, easier material layers, better HDRI support, micro displacement,  VDB support (cloud data), etc.
