Read this thread. Have you tried initializing M4? That has to be done each time you install M4, or install new morphs for him.  It's a .bat file located in the runtime/libraries/!DAZ folder.

It may help to copy the !DAZ folder to your main runtime, if you're using multiple runtimes.

That is unnecessary.  The BAT file must be located in the same runtime folder where the M4 base is installed.  If the Poser main runtime is located within Program Files in Windows, there will be further complications with UAC interfering with proper function.  

I know that's the theory, but in practice...I have to copy the !DAZ folder into my default runtime, or the morphs don't work. Or they work for awhile, then stop working.

To be clear...the BAT file is in my M4 runtime. After I run the BAT file, I copy the !DAZ folder to my default runtime. Which is on an external drive, not in Program Files.
