then I've been deleting this since looong ago, using the Herarchy Window: right click -> delete -> gone

And I still don't understand why it can be deleted one way and not the other...  Note that I'm using at least 2 screens for my Poser, and even three when in the Material room, so that the Hierarchy window is always opened, as sometimes, it's almost impossible to select an object using the sometimes-deseperately-long menu:
