Oh that's very cool! I knew there were carnivals in other places, but I didn't know they were the same time of the year! Really nice.

I think some of that may come from the fact that Americans use the word carnival for a travelling amusement park, which of course can happen at any time of the year but has nothing to do with the original meaning of the word.
