New store items on sale are now listed as "Prime" upon initial release. If they were listed as "Prime Flash," then I'd know whether or not they were actually Prime or merely flashing as Prime.

Are you sure you're not confusing "Premier Releases" with prime? 

Premier release is a limited discount for a day or two on a product, which is separate from Prime. Not all new items go through that process - only some.
