You are trying to apply a MATERIAL again to a figure that is not the correctvone. You are in the wrong category and you need the PROP which is the beard bit. Go to Props, find the actual beard piece in the Apollo folder and once it loads, you can apply the Material to it to change color.

Make sure you learn to switch to the right category for your items.
