Hi,

I have an open source project that I would like to use Poser to render 3d human models. The models would be distributed in the repository as part of the source code. Therefore, I have a few questions:

Is Poser the ideal choice for my project?

That would be hard to say. It would be doable. There is a free trial you can use to see if it will work for you. What you link to below can be done in Poser.

Am I allowed to distribute the .obj file if I purchase a license?

No, you can't distribute the .obj files that come with Poser. You can distribute any videos or images you make.

Is Poser easy to use?

Again, this is difficult to answer. Some people take to poser quickly while others struggle. Most 3D software has a learning curve.

Are there any discounts for non-commercial/open source projects?

No, there isn't a discount for that.

Example of my goal that I would like to accomplish.

Thanks

I don't understand what the point is of going through the process of rigging and animating the model if I can't use it outside of poser. What I plan on doing is loading the models in A-frame and animating it so depending on what attacks and defense the challenger and opponent choose the models "act it out" and at the end a winner is declared.
