Here's an example using StoneMason's "Streets of Morocco". I chose Camera#13 and loaded in his Iray presets & turned Use Local Dimensions OFF. In Lightwave, you can import camera data which is fine for position & rotation, but the lens info won't match, so you have to eyeball it. For lighting, I generally use a favorite HDR from HDRHaven. I eyeballed the rotation to match his shadows, but made a second one more to my liking.
As far as texturing, here's the PBR Node flow in Lightwave. Pretty simple & straight forward actually.
With FBX, you only get the basic surfaces in the file anyway, but that's enough for me to trace back to the correct Daz Runtime/Texures folder & just copy them. So yes, I'm aware, and while a few DAZish things still elude me, I resurface everything into PBR anyway, so that gives me control and allows my to use the older maps or make new ones.
It's all there in DS, but have you seen the Node editng tool? I can't find the Jay Verluis vid showing it now but yikes! Followed his directions, found and opened it, and it wouldn't fit on both my 27" monitors. Zoom out, useless to try and work with but a great abstract image.
With the tools I have in LW though, resurfacing an entire item, character, scene, becomes pretty quick & logical. I've a number of KitBash products, but the Daz and Rendo enviro products out shine them in many ways. Mostly copy & pasting, then change out the maps. Biggest problem is mostly no standards with naming convention of maps and surfaces. And spelling.
And there are several thing in DAZ that are much better than with LW frankly, but I've generally a lot more control in pretty much all other aspects with Lightwave. Lighting most definitely, but most all of the UI.
For example, I've built a library of Poses that I've exported out of DS into LW, but LW doesn't have a simple, one-click means of mirroring a pose as does DS. So, I export a Mirrored pose too. Only takes seconds fortunately as it's just the rig & no geometry so is <400k.
