Is it asking for the textures, or are they just not visible in the viewport? If it's the latter, then the shaders aren't compatible with the preview mode. You can try turning off the hardware shading in the preview settings.

Another thing that causes everything to look like a silhouette is a lack of lights in the scene. Check and make sure there is at least one light and that it's on.
