Lady Cherry I've told you before, and explained in detail and at length the necessity of encrypting other peoples copywriten material if it is included as part of your work. Is is my opinion that you are currently leaving yourself wide open for a law suit.
I'm only being this blunt because this is not the first time. I would hate to see your talent being tarnished by something so easily avoided.
If you still do not understand how or why to use the Mover program then for goodness sake say so.
Ok So all of you can Understand i included the old eve figure that was FREE to download eve version3 with my alice character because the Eve Version3 fits the bill the best. However i realize now that my generosity is misunderstood. I will remove Eve from the inclusion of the alice character and keep only the dress and objects i have created. Besides this is older work im far beyond this now. I work with other programs, truepace is far to basic for what i do now. Alice was made in truspace limiting me to what i could do. What im working with now i create my own figures. Please do not get me wrong and thank you for your concern Philc. I didnt think sending out this older work from myself would cause a problem due to the fact that the older eve character was free to download with no mover required. I will remove the eve figure and that should settle it.

PhilC, Maybe you can help me understand the rules here. I'm preparing to put in freestuff a remapped P4nudefemale and remapped kneeboots both which as you know come stock in Poser. Because it's a remap I created a new CR2 that points to the original cr2, and a new obj files for each, and a new texture map for both. Is this cool or would I be infringing on someones rights. My thought process is that I'm not as I'm not providing anything new but a altered version of what is already existent within the Poser software but I want to be sure. Thanks for your help.
Hi adele,
Yes I can certainly understand your way of thinking. However if someone did not have the program but wanted a model of a pair of boots they could download your files for free. I am by no means a copyright lawyer. For myself I will not include any third party material in my models unless I have the artist's permission or it is in some way encrypted.
The recognised encryption tool for our program is the Objaction Mover program that is available in the Utilities section of The Freestuff. It was produced by Maz to enable the sharing of copywriten material between Poser users without infringing on that copy write.
To explain by example lets consider an artist who starting with a clothing item from the library alters/cuts/adds/remaps to it to create a new garment. They then wish to share their work but because it contains another's copywriten material are prevented from doing so. The solution is to encrypt the OBJ file using the original copywriten model as the key. Upon receiving this encrypted (PCF) file a Poser user may unlock it using their copy of the original OBJ file. Bone fide Poser users will both have the same original figure, and hence the key.
Maz has included detailed instruction on how to use the program within his readme file.
In your case where you are just remapping there is another option. UVMapper has the ability to export/import UV data. You would load your boot into that application, remap as required, save the new OBJ for your own use, and also File/export the UV data file (not the OBJ), for general distribution. Upon receipt of your UV data file I would load up the original boot into UVMapper, import your UV data and save the boot with a new file name. A bonus with this method is that the size of the file being exchanged is much smaller.
CR2 files that do not contain copyriten OBJ embedded within them may be freely distributed. The only exception (to my knowledge), are the ones for the new edition of Vickie which contain the new morph data.
Thank you Lady Cherry for correcting what must have only been an over site. I'm impressed by the quality of the boots you created in Truespace. I look forward with great interest to see what you will be creating in a less limiting program.
Hope all this helps.

Congrats Lady Cherry I see you're #3 in freestuff just behind PhilC and Nerd Many thanks.I sit here in amazement and I read and reread this thread, shaking my head. Copyright issues? Blunt teachings? And no one gets mad or says escalating bad things to one another? No one runs off in a huff? How can this be? A CIVILIZED and MATURE exchange of knowledge and criticism? Maybe there's hope for the human race yet..... Scarab

Thank you! We are not worthy :-) Thanks Phil for expanding on the copyright issues. Here in the Poser community it's very easy to assume that the figure meshes are only usable within Poser, and that everybody has Poser 4. Neither of these things is true... Famine, the PZ3 is in the file which should enable you to make your own CR2s if you want to use the items separately.
