Yes bryce 3 supports 3ds files and obj files, as to why you prefer DXF I do not know. OBJ and 3DS both support groups. so they are easy to texture, whereas dxf is all one object. To import 3ds and obj files, just go to file/import and find your file, When 3ds and dxf files are imported, they will be of poor quality as well, so you need to smooth them by clicking the "E" Next to the selected object, and click the smooth button until you are satisfied. Bryce obp files (yes that is obp) can only be imported to the presets themselves. To do this, click on the triangle next to the create button and click add in the prests meu that pops up. Hope this helps out.
