I would like to hear from you folks about how you feel this forum is being run. My current Philosophy is that many people come here to tutor and help other members. And that's one of the biggest reasons why they come here (it was for me). So instead of answering every message. I usually just sit in the background. And let you folks dictate the direction of the discussions here and in the PoserTech forum. And only jump in when someone hasn't gotten a reply. Or is causing trouble (although that rarely happens. For a large group, you are very well behaived). So I'm wondering.....Do you like this? Or do you feel like I've abandoned you? Please be honest. It won't help if you don't tell the truth. I can take it. :-) ScottA

I think it's going pretty well Scott ;). That's pretty much how I help run the forums I moderate over at Big-i, except I have a tendency to flap my gums a whole lot more ;). I think you are doing a fine job. Laurie

You and Jeff do very well. I've already noticed you're always here for those abandoned :) If moderators were replying to all posts, many people would not add their feelings and advices. So, it's a good thing to be there in the dark, ready to help us... You and Jeff are my heroes ;) joelegecko

You're not as hands-on a moderator as some of the others here, but that's no big deal. People have different styles. Different isn't necessarily bad. The forum is merrily rolling along, people are getting helped, and generally there is much rejoicing.

You're doing well. Technical support is what I value, and what you and the others provide. Just one idea: sometimes people don't appear to understand or test the solutions they get in responses, so if you or the other recognized experts respond as well, it can add weight to such threads.

Good job. Heck, excellent job. This is the spot where I come for technical advice (which I've been absorbing like a sponge for the past few months). The only thing I've noticed here that concerns me is rampant throughout the online community in general. People have a tendency to be down-right rude at times (and I understand this might sound odd coming from someone who uses FuriousGeorge as a handle). I think the forum would benefit greatly from people taking a nice deep breath (or counting to 10) before they right heated responses to an oftentimes imagined slight or insult. Just my 2 cents. If you don't like it WELL THEN... ... have a nice day! :-)

Some forums I do not go to because the moderator is a wee tad' bit heavy handed in there duties. This form I come to often because of the free flow of thought and what I perceive as guidelines as opposed to rules ( which " must " be enforced ). Also I don't believe that you have ever sent someone with a question; that has more to do with another program, elsewhere for help unless it just could not be answered. I have seen this in other forums. Your doing a swell job!! Keep it up! +++Deberus

You're doing great! The philosophy of not answering unless someone is in danger of being abandoned works very well in a forum that is this active. I had noticed that there were not as many posts from you as in times past, but I think it is working extremely well. This is the forum I visit the most on all the web. - JimX

I didn't know that this forum had a moderator. At least no one stepped in and said "I'm the moderator..." So if that is what you wanted, you've done a great job. As for "general conduct" in forums, I've seen a few threads that get out of hand, and eventually sort themselves out.

Well, since this forum is the most likely to have threads that end up in C&D....You are doing fine. No need to stir the pot on controversial threads, dontcha know. Pop...Pop...Poppi!!!

Scott; I honestly feel that your approach as a moderator is dead-spot-on (err, that is; really excellent) I spend more time here than any other forum or website I've checked out. I feel it fosters more of an honest feel of community than any other site I've visited (regardless of the actual focus of the site). That said, I'd like to second or support the suggestion that a FAQ, or pre-filtered database of links to effective discussions on common problems be set up & maintained for the benefit of newcomers, or old-tymers getting into unfamiliar areas of poser. It would take a bit of setup, but it would give a place to "point" to when the old "...Vicky eyebrows" or "...clothes don't move with figure??" postings pop up. I'm constantly surprised how often certain questions are re-asked. Some as often as several times a week! Newcomers especially seem prone to just posting questions without attempting any kind of search, or even browsing back a couple of pages in the forum. I have to feel this is from either an unfamiliarity with search operations, slower connections that make browsing dozens of threads prohibitively time-consuming, or frustration with the odd tendancy of many posters to phrase their topics so vaguely as to be useless for later searchers. Anyway, just my $.02 etc, etc, ... Render On!

mods in poser forum are doing excellent. can tell cos the forum is doing excellent. imo. that FAQ pointing to threads is a great idea.

Ughhh!!! Me and my big mouth ;-). Jeff and I wanted to set up a FAQ for this forum but it's such a huge subject we didn't know where to begin. The links idea is a good one. But I'm not sure if we can do that from a technical point of view. I'll talk it over with the admins. and see if we can come up with something. ScottA

Just get the members to do the work. Delegate delegate delegate ;) It's a forum FAQ, not the more general Poser FAQ... Basically, people should post a link to threads from this forum they thought particularly useful and/or get asked frequently! Then build on it :) My favourite one is about deleting rsrs in your geometries folder if the model gets corrupted by poser.

heyas scott; :) whats with the all caps topic? and that horrible whatever you are doing to your font. ugh! makes me glad you stay quiet most of the time ;) naah, im just teasing ya. you're doing a fine job. there are some topics i, personally, would have booted to the c&d forum, but... that's just me. you dont have to butt into every thread to be doing a good job as a moderator. work behind the scenes, so we don't have to ;)
