So let me see if I understand this correctly...

• Curious Labs has the freedom to alter the price of an "upgrade" with relatively few contractual problems.
• If Poser was actually put on "sale" in the normal sense, there would be difficulties with contracts and that would take a significant amount of time and/or money.
• By setting this up as an "amnesty" program those issues where avoided while the nature of the amnesty allowed anyone at all to buy Poser for a reduced price.
• The intention was not specifically to benefit pirates only, but anyone who wanted Poser... but this 'trick' is what made that possible contractually?

I didn't think that was an official stance.. you folks have always seemed pretty in tune with the user base and it would have been very out of character.

The community is very devoted - it may be that this is simply a communication problem like in any relationship :)
