Have you folks seen this yet? Awesome...this guy is just fantastic :). I think he just put this up this week. It's under "Specials". Texture's mine BTW, not Helmut's. It doesn't come with a texture :). That'll give you all the fun of making one ;). Laurie

Excellent model Laurie..and your texture is superb!!!

tradivoro ( ) posted Mon, 19 November 2001 at 12:55 AM

Hey Laurie, that's really great... So, any chance you're going to make that texture available??? :)

Wow it is so real looking, good work Laurie

Hey that looks great Laurie, and you're right in that that guy is excellent, from what I can see. I can't download anything though, because it keeps timing out...

Paul: I don't mind giving you the tex, but since the original model is a .3ds, you'd have to convert the file to .obj first (I did it in Poser). Then you'd have to also run it thru UV Mapper as well (I'd have to give you the uv's as well as the tex ;)). If you wanna go thru all that, then it's yours...let me know. Mike: His site has been slow (kinda unusual). It took almost 20 minutes to download the above model and I'm on DSL. There's intermittant problems on his end I think. Laurie

Thanks Laurie, will try again. The site itself loads fine, but when I click on a d/l link, nothing happens then I get the "..page cannot be displayed" thingie. Cable connection here, so it's not that....

LaurieA ( ) posted Mon, 19 November 2001 at 7:47 AM

Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on. Maybe I should drop him a quick email. It took 3 tries to get the model for me (which I thought was worth it ;)). The first time the zip was corrupt. The second time the download just hung and the third time was the charm ;). I didn't have any problems downloading any of his other models (previously). Laurie

tradivoro ( ) posted Mon, 19 November 2001 at 8:36 AM

Well, I'll keep it in mind, till I finally learn to use UV Mapper... :) Thanks...

LaurieA ( ) posted Mon, 19 November 2001 at 9:26 AM

You really don't need to know how to use UV Mapper to apply the uv's. Just open up the .obj in UVM (after you've re-exported it from Poser as .obj), go to the first menu and choose import uv's - or something to that effect and browse to the .uvs file. Then resave the .obj. That's all there is to it. Then the above map will map to your object :). Laurie

That is beautiful work on the texture, Laurie! :)

The models looks great on his home page. It would be fun to see how they looks in a render. Only problem is that the site is so slow that after 2 days of trying to download I have only managed to get two files that where not corrupt. Wonder how many weeks it will take to get them all down! ;)

Absolutely gorgeous Laurie! I am downloading the file right now and it is gruesomely slow!!! But what an outstanding object. :) Irene

It is really slow guys. There must be something going on with his server. I downloaded all his other models previously (weeks and weeks ago) and they came over in nothing flat. Like I say, it took me three tries to get that column base. Laurie

SUUUPER thats great Laurie! Your texture is wonderful. Sorry about the slow downloads on my site. There is to much traffic. I have to find a new server to store my models. Helmut
