Subject: Why doesn't Vicki work with Anim8tor?

AliasAngel ( ) posted Sun, 09 December 2001 at 11:42 AM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 2:30 PM

I fell in love with Anim8tor for some of my Mike morphs, but when I tried it with Vicki, all my morphs get messed up. Does anybody know what causes this? If anybody can help me, I'll post some free morphs as a thank you.

Messed up how? And is this Vicki 1 or 2? I haven't tried making any Vicki morphs yet, but I found some things (Poser hair for instance) wouldn't load properly into anim8or. I assume your problems are further down the line?

AliasAngel ( ) posted Mon, 10 December 2001 at 5:15 PM

Both Vickis. I can get them into Anim8tor and make my morphs just fine, but when I try to use the morphs, it changes the entire face.

If a figure's head "explodes" when you apply a morph, it usually means that the vertex order got mixed up somewhere in the process. Are you following the same method exactly as worked for Mike? If I were doing this, I'd take the head direct from the blMilWom.obj file in GeometriesZygotePeople (for Vicki 1).

AliasAngel ( ) posted Mon, 10 December 2001 at 6:31 PM

Yeah, I did exactly the same as with Mike. I have no idea what's wrong.

EnglishBob ( ) posted Tue, 11 December 2001 at 5:50 AM

I just tried this experiment with Victoria 1: Separate the head from blMilWom.obj using Compose and save it. Import the head into anim8or, then export it again without doing anything to it. Apply the exported head as a morph target in Poser. That worked fine for me: as expected, nothing happened when I twirl the new morph dial. So, I'm mystified too. Sorry! :(

Where can I get Compose? Or can you e-mail me the obj file you made? And what should I do with Vicki 2?

You can download Compose directly from the attached link. I can't e-mail you bits of Vicki of course, that would be naughty copyright wise :-) but you'll find Compose useful for all sorts of things once you get used to it. How did you generate the Mike morphs without it? Vicki 2 should work in the same way, but I don't have her so can't confirm it.

Vicky 2's default head has morphs applied to it already... if you exported her head from Poser with the V2 head morph applied, and the morphed that more, that could be why it's affecting the whole head... is it doing weird things like making her lips really puffy? shrug

AliasAngel ( ) posted Tue, 11 December 2001 at 6:26 PM

I made the Mike morphs by extracting his head, running it through UV Mapper, then playing with it in Anim8tor. And thanks for the link.

AliasAngel ( ) posted Tue, 11 December 2001 at 6:31 PM

Cin- I have the same problem with the original Vicki. Is what you're talking about only a Vicki 2 thing? And I'll check again to make sure all the dials are at zero and try again.

Cin- ( ) posted Tue, 11 December 2001 at 6:58 PM

I don't think that Vicky 1 has any morphs applied by default, so it shouldn't hold true for V1, but I dunno, I haven't tried it...

AliasAngel ( ) posted Tue, 11 December 2001 at 7:19 PM

I think you're right about the dial on Vicki 2. The text overlaps it on my screen, so I could have easily thought it was at zero when it wasn't. Still doesn't explain Vicki 1, but if it fixes the Vicki 2 problem, I'm happy. :)

Cin- ( ) posted Tue, 11 December 2001 at 10:49 PM

Let me know if that works or not... if that's not it then I'm clueless (not that I really had a clue to begin with)... and I dunno wabout Vicky 1... shrug

EnglishBob ( ) posted Wed, 12 December 2001 at 4:06 AM

Actually, Vicki 1 has "Brows In" set to 0.4 by default. This will cause trouble with the export from Poser method, which I why I much prefer Compose. You know where you are with the basic mesh!
