Some additional notes on Blue Velvet, now in the CG Gallery (the above is a super thumbnail): The shoes and dress are models I created, the dress is modified from the P4 Nude, not from any of the clothing. I think Ill put the shoes (at least) in Free Stuff eventually, but the dress still needs lots of work- using tight conforming clothing is a chore (which is why the Poser stuff is all so loose), as the figure keeps popping out when you pose it. Im working on the idea of using morphs and magnets to adjust it after a move. The gloves are a morph (for the cuff) and a texture and bump map, the bump map needs more work, as I can see now. Allerleirauhs hair was moved around and bump mapped added as he suggested. The jewelry, except for the necklace, was found here, I think. Poser messed up the object file when I exported it, the dress figure had all the same group names as the girl, I had to hand edit it, and apply all the textures again in Bryce. The render (pretty big, 1700 x something) took over four hours in Bryce, I let it run all night. I was trying for the look of a classy lady, wearing some racy clothing, not a hooker.

I like it. Classy is what I was thinking. -JH.

Yep, "classy" is definately what I would call it. Paul

And the shoes... how fast can those be gotten from you? These are great.

I love her, but is butt-crack showing sexy?? I don't know, I'm a chick myself, but i think I'd paint out the butt crack ;)

JeffH ( ) posted Fri, 17 December 1999 at 2:12 PM

Maybe it's the "Other cleavage"? Then again, most likely a guy thing...I don't mind it ;-) -JH.

Hehehe , the buttcrack. Classy and provocative at the same time.

Look at what's worn at the Oscars and high society dinners. I've seen much more revieling outfits... and on much worse looking folks

I should have the shoes up this weekend, as soon as I find a free homepage site I can live with. Remember "The tall man with one shoe" movie (either version)?

I'm in love with this character, can hardly wait for the shoes at least. I've been praying someone would come up with this dress! Eye make-up perhaps is a bit like a tropical fish with a hangover, but that's a minor quibble on a masterpiece. Best to stick with earth tones/smokey grays with maybe a touch of greenish and/or gold highlights for evening. Don't know exactly what goes best with beautiful blue velvet. My specialty was prosthetics, not cosmetics.

Desmond Morris, the anthropologist, seems to think that external mammaries developed as a biological echo of the rump itself, making the breasts the "Other cleavage." Why am I bothering to say this? Perhaps I'm just a pseudo-intellectual Poser. Sorry. It's late.

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

Cage: The Naked Ape. Loved it. I meat Morris a few years ago. Hell of a guy! Remember teh theory about lips...keep that in mind and do some multiple figure rendering .... I'll see if I can find a short AVI I did last year that illustrtrate the theory.

Fantastic! I love Morris' work. So many great ideas! BTW, I'm being rude: I DO like the above image. Will the dress be posted? One of these days I'm going to manage to pull a scene complteley into RDS and use the Ray Tracing rendering engine to create reflections. Poser has always bothered me that way: no reflections. Still, in spite of any and all gripes about P4 and Meta, I would rather HAVE P4 than NOT.

The dress still needs work before it is ready for prime time, Poser has a lot of problems with skirts and dresses (and kilts), I've been working on getting a little more movement before the legs pop out of the material. I've also just gotten 3D Studio Max, so there is a tendency to want to re-do everything I've done in the dreaded RDS! I do all my serious renderings in Bryce, even though it is a pain bringing the parts in. I really, really like Bryce and Poser, it is a shame Poser is so buggy, and how none of MC stuff works togeather very well, and hopefully sombody will buy them and fix them (but I'm not holding my breath!). I have put the shoes up at my new Webpage, just now. http://victorian.fortunecity.com/impressionist/1030/
