Those paper tapes went to teletype machines which were hooked up to a HP-2000e (time shared system). My last year of college they got one of those optical tape readers. It sure beat the crap out the clunky old teletypes. Especially when we tried to load our copy of a Star Trek game written in Hewlett Packard basic. (In them days Wozniak and Jobs were still in their garage trying to plant "Apples"...) As long as I'm waxing nostalgic anybody remember the Heathkit H8 or the Altair 8008 (I think; it's been a while..)?
