I was having problems over the last few days as well but it turned out to be my ISP. I was droping packets at between 40-60%. Images were coming up with the little red X. I'm on cable modem as well and its running really fast today...once my ISP got the packet loss fixed. :) But, As we all know there are a bunch of hops between you and renderosity on the internet and any of those locations could be causing problems with the connection to us.
