OUCH! and sorry for the problems... this is indeed one of the largest (no pun intended) challenges a digital artist faces when doing work for print. i now do all my images with the intent of paper-publishing, even if i am doodling for fun because i can never quite recreate something that was 50% inspiration and 50% luck and good planet alignment at the time. i try to make each and every picture count. there is nothing more heart breaking than when someone says "hey i like that picture can i use it for a cover?" and you say... "DOH, Ummm NO, it's not big enough." been there, done that. i am so trained to work large now that honestly, i never gave it a second thought when asking for contest submissions that people would NOT work originally in the large size and just shrink down the entry for submission. i really apologize to everyone for not suggesting this right in the rules to save some heartache. for christmas this year, the only thing on my list to santa clause was new hard drives. a girl can never have too much free hard drive space!
