Any selection based on a popularity contest over the web is rigged by definition. It does not mean that it is intensionally biaised to make someone in particular win. People just have friends, relatives, popularity that are bound to bring them a lot of votes regardless of the quality of their work. It is just the way it works on the web. At least, the authors of the contest recognize that and are supposed to select the winning picture out of the top 20 - this should ensure a good picture to come out of it, even if it is just the best of the 20 most popular ones. As for sea rose's image, you may not like it but it has the merit to show a lot of work in it... it is not the case some other pictures in the top 20 :) I am goin to check C&D right away... sometimes things can be fun there...
