I'm just gonna harp in here and say I'm not really better than Travis, we're on similar wavelengths. :) I tend to have VERY specific things on my mind when I go into a model but Trav usually creates as he works. That's a lot harder to do and he deserves much praise for doing it and doing it well. I agree with the idea that all modelers should try and stretch their legs beyond what they know (I'm doing that now...working on buildings and stuff). As for the happy go lucky feel of a character model, it's important that a model can convey that feel even when standing still. This usually means that the model is designed to be happy like but doesn't mean it always has to be that way. Travis makes a good point about the animator playing a bigger part of that. Still, I'd like to see you do another cuddly wuddly character (the anime girl you made was pretty cool). I'd think you'd be great at it and it would lend a bit more range to your skill. All in all, I model what I like and so does Trav and so do most folk. We sometimes get that urge to break away from the norm but it's nice to perfect a particular part of you skill if you can. I tend to lean towards animals and Trav leans toward humanoids...reminds me, I need to try more human-like things. Speaking of that, Trav, try to fit the gums to the teeth, you know, make sockets for 'em. I like the description of the Nestor and now that my personal project has dwindled to near nothingness, I may take a swing at modeling that if you don't mind. Do I ever talk alot!! Gonna go be quiet now, bye.
