Did you check with e-on first about the vegetation bundle ? I find strange that it will work for an upgrade only and not for a full version ... Just a thought... I would be glad to help you since I have an upgrade too... but I also have the vegetation bundle so I would end up with the same problem as you are having.

Not only have you purchased several versions , and the upgrades , AND the veggie pack , there is no reward for being a loyal customer. Not a good message from EON in my book. I really think e-on should do something about this 'vegetables' thingy. Really is very discouraging. I was lucky. I ordered a few individual plants during Version 3 period andjust before the order was processed, the bundle came out in the nick of time for me to cancel my individula order...thanks to Steve Bell on that one. I wonder if these day, e-on is as "warm" as they were. I only know Steve Bell and he is a real nice person. Can you say something to the boss? :) The thing that Scared Rose has to go thru is kind of a 'agony'...I don't expect here having to spend money on another bundle...sigghhh! NO OFFENCE MEANT TO E-ON BUT like Cozmic say.."Reminds me more of a Bill Gates type mentality".
Beck, This is exactly what happend to me some month again, when I had to re-install things. You have to do what I did. Write to e-on indicating your Vue 3 and Vue 4 serial numbers and they will find out easy when you purchased your plant bundle and then give you a special address for you only to download them all again. You also will get new serial numbers for each plant, because the old one will not work any more. Guitta
Actually Guitta I have two different copies of vue 3 LOL with two different serials - one of them is vue 3.1 (it says so on the cd) the other is vue 3 (says so on the cd )which was patched to 3.1. The veg bundle was purchased for only one of them - my old copy before I won the vue 4 contest. I will write to them I guess and ask them if they can give me a new plant bundle.....but I don't like my chances, because I did not purchase Vue 4.... I won it in the contest. Steve was aware that I couldnt use my plant bundle with vue 4 when I was having intial problems so I really can't see him changing his mind again this time. sigh Thanks for all of your help everyone.
I wasn't aware that the plants would have a problem with different serialed versions. I guess I assumed that their own serial numbers would be good enough. Pretty strange that they would do that, really. IMO, it shouldn't matter that you won your copy of Vue 4, and I find it pretty lame of them to think so. You already bought the plants. You should be able to use them in Vue 4. Let us know what they say this time around. I don't think most companies like to see threads like this floating around in highly visible places such as this....

Correct, Guitta, and I'm not being hard on them. At least I didn't think I was, and I don't have any plans to do so, either. What I meant was, when Beck comes back here and says how Steve took care of it for her and made everything right, then we'll have another public example of how considerate of their customers E-on is. :)
Something just doesn't sound right about this to me. First of all, I've never known anyone to have problems transferring the vegetation from one Vue version to another due to upgrading. Heck, many of us did just that last summer when Vue 4 was released and we upgraded from v.3.1. Yes, some of the plants sometimes are reluctant, but it is different plants for different people, and when there is a problem like that, you just write to E-on, describe the difficulty, and they help get the veggie installed. Secondly, the only difference between a "full" version of Vue and an "upgrade" version is the price, nothing else. If you upgraded Vue from v.2 to v.3, your Vue 3 is a full and complete version of the program. The price has nothing to do with the actual application. Have you tried yet copying your Plants folder from the Vue that is all installed to the newly-installed Vue? That alone should accomplish the task -- although there might be one or two plants that refuse to install; in those cases, you simply install them newly with their own serial numbers. I'm not trying to say you're not having problems getting the veggies installed, Beck, but just that I'm very confused as to what the actual problem is.
Oh, Varian, all this things I had tried too when I had to install again. I had a copy of my whole plants folder, but all the purchased plants refused to work. I also had my original zip plants, Vue refused their serial numbers. At e-on I had to download them all again and got a new serial number for each. Guitta
Maybe I am a lucky one, then. I've been using the same plants (aside from the newer Schefflera, anenome, etc) since v.2. When I had trouble transferring a few of them to new versions, I just told E-on about it, and things got worked out. But this -- The problem with the vegetation bundle is that they are serialed to your version serial. This means they will not work for a different serialed version of Vue. -- is just not so. The vegetation and mats are developed in whatever is the current version and they cannot be installed to lower versions (i.e. v.3 plants cannot be used in v.2), but other than that, the only part that knows anything about your version number is the biosphere*.DLL. And maybe that is the problem? If Beck is trying to move a biosphere3.DLL to a Vue 4 directory, that definitely won't work. Whatever it might be, though, Beck can contact E-on and arrangements will be made for assistance or replacement. Having won the program in a contest doesn't make one a "lesser" user; she is still legitimate. E-on will help. :)
Ok..let me clarify a few things before it gets any worse. If u will try and remember all of my versions of vue are full versions...not upgrades. The plant bundle was bought for version 3 patched to version 3.1. The serials are specific to that version and that vue serial. IF I wanted to use those plants with the vue 3.1 full version I purchased, the plants would not work, cos their original serials are not linked with the 3.1 full version. Likewise they are not linked to the version 4 I have because it is a full version and not an upgrade version. If it had been an upgrade version it would have accepted the plants had they already been installed on my version 3 that I purchsed them with, and they would have worked. Also...I don't have the old version 3 installed any more....I needed to conserve hard drive space and when I first installed vue 4.....I had to install and uninstall 8 times if u remember and I ended up having to delete everything and do a complete reg edit to get it to load. Now...Steve was aware at the time I had all those install problems that there was a problem with my veg bundle as well. In fact I specifically asked him to exchange my full version to an upgrade version to help with the transition and the problems....it (the request) was never acknowledged or responded to. Instead he gave me other instructions to try and get vue 4 up and running. I sent him numerous pz3 files to look at, and after getting one response to one of the pz3's (saying I had forgotten to include the textures with it) that was the last I heard about them. He did however help mike and I with the 4.03 beta patch if anyone can remember. But this didnt address the plants or request for an exchange from full version to upgrade version. So due to their previous lack of response re the veg bundle this is the reason I posted in the forum to swap my version. Im not trying to do anything illegal..I would just like to be able to use the existing plant bundle; it will mean my uninstalling vue 4 completely and installing vue 3 then patching it, installing my plants, then upgrading it to vue 4 and then patching it to 4.03. I am prepared to do that just to get my plants. I am NOT prepared to buy another plant bundle..cos I dont have another $200AUS to get them. I hope this clarifies things more. I am not saying that E-On have not been helpful, I am asking for help that was previously asked of them but not addressed. However I will contact them again and post their response as soon as I get it.
Do contact them again, Beck, and keep the contact clear about it being solely about the veggies not installing properly as they should in 4.03. I'll say this part one more time, because I know others have been confused about this, too, but the only difference between a "full" version of Vue and an "upgrade" version is the price, nothing else. If you upgraded Vue from v.2 to v.3, your Vue 3 is a full and complete version of the program. The price has nothing to do with the actual application. All Vue installations are full and complete versions -- except for the demos, which are specially limited. There is no way you'll be asked to re-purchase the vegetation bundle. You bought it, it's yours to use in every subsequent Vue version you ever, ever have. The veg question probably just got overlooked with all the PZ3 and installation troubles at the time. So just re-contact them regarding the veggies, and I'm sure they'll have you set up and generating plants in no time at all. Let us know how it goes! :)
The way I see it: - as of today's license, when you buy the plants, you buy them forever - nowhere it is currently written that the purchase is limited to a specific Vue version. If Eon changes serials for their protection policy, it is their full right to do so, but they have to provide registered users with updated serials. - there is no difference to my interpretation if you won your copy of Vue 4 instead of buying it. As long as it is a legit copy, it is ok. Somebody must have bought it/offered it before it was set as a contest prize. Therefore it must be a legit copy, and as such, the owner (you) is also entitled to the customer rights that go together with a legit copy, unless -that is- the copy that you won had explicit limitations in it's license. - given the above, I don't think that there should be any reason why Eon shouldn't help you. My personal experience: I have had several problems in the past with vegetation, and ALWAYS Steve Bell was there to help and solve the problem QUICKLY. If he wasn't of help with you, it probably was because of a misunderstanding, or maybe he just forgot about it - he must be a very busy man, and very busy men sometimes do forget about a thing. It doesn't hurt to send a reminder to busy men once in a while. My suggestion is that you write to him, explaining that you have vegetation serials for Vue 3, and that your Vue 4 is a legit copy and the reason why it's not an upgrade is because it was a contest prize. When he has all the info about your situation clear, I am confident that he will find a way to help. If people who bought an upgrade version of Vue 4 are granted access to their previous purchased vegetation of version 3, owner of full version 4 must have this right even more, if it was possible. Hey Orio, glad to see you in this thread. :) Actually, she won the Vue 4 prize in the Vue contest we had here, last August. It had been donated to Renderosity by E-on, so they are very much aware of it being legitimate. If THEY can't give away a copy of Vue 4, who can? ;) Anyhow, I agree with you completely. Beck, have you contacted Steve yet? Make sure you let us know what happens. Stay on them, and send them the link to this thread, too. I noticed there was at least one person who doesn't sound impressed with E-on's customer support (post #13 by "roadtoad"). Of course WE know that's not true, but anyone else reading this might have to wonder....
With her help ( and Steve Bell who forwarded my email to her) I am now in the process of downloading the vegetation bundle for vue 4 (with new serials). Way to Go E-on!!! Many many thanks to Cecile for your help. You have finally ended my nightmare regarding the vegetation :) I only pray I am not jinxed and will have install probelsm ;]

I own three copies of Vue. I purchased vue 3.00 and vue 3.1 second hand. I won a copy of Vue 4 (all of them full versions). Here is my dilema. I also bought the xtra vegetation bundle for one of my vue 3 versions, however...they will not work in vue 4, because it is a full version and not an upgrade version...sooooo here is the deal. I would like to trade my full version 4 for an upgrade version of vue 4 so that I can use my vegetation bundle. It needs to have the registration transfers done through e-on. I can send you the full version cd's and the trader has to send me their upgrade version cd's and transfer their registration over through e-on to finalise this. If anyone is interested in helping me out (if they dont need their upgrade version and would like a full version) PLEASE respond to this thread or via IM on the board. I would really appreciate any help. regards beck ps. in case u were wondering why I have 2 version 3's, its because I have two computers here and my daughter has a version of her own installed on one of them.
