You can use Steve Cox's UVMapper to create a "wire frame" picture (.bmp) of the object (model). Then use your favorite paint program to carefully place the prominent features (i.e., eyes, nose, mouth, etc.) in the proper positions on the "map." Now, blend or otherwise fill in the areas inbetween the areas that you "pasted," save it and use it as your tex map. Simple, huh? ;=]
P.S. It is not as simple as just pasting a picture of the face on the texmap. You'll get some interesting results if you do that since Poser does not map textures linearly.
