Me bow has slain yon giants And me bag a long knife carries For to cut mince pies from cave troll's thighs With which to feed the fairies Still I sing, bonnie mad boys, bedlam boys are bonnie For we all are fair, and we live by the air, And we want no meat nor money. -Medieval Song-

I have to give my two cents worth... I love his slightly imperfect nose... it really adds a lot of character to an otherwise perfect face.

Mehndi ( ) posted Mon, 21 January 2002 at 12:44 PM

smiles Thanks guys for all the encouragement :) He is in the testing queu now at Daz, and hopefully will be out very soon :) I shall definately let you all know when :) And Nikitacreed, there is an upgrade path to that hair, to the full version of UltraSalon II - ElvenCourt (tm), which has LOTS more if you like that look ;) This hair he wears is a special LE sample version as a courtesy to purchasers of the Elf :)

Looks great. It's good to see so much "Lord of the Rings" type stuff being generated lately. Mehndi, Regarding "Bedlam Boys", where did you hear it (and do you have the words) One of my favorite songs by one of my favorite scottish bands recorded it. I planned on performing it back a few years ago, but couldn't catch all of the words. Any info is greatly appreciated. (Sorry for the off topic nature, but I didn't see a way to email mehndi directly)

Mehndi ( ) posted Mon, 21 January 2002 at 1:11 PM

smiles Eric, it is one of my favorite songs ever. I feel it describes myself, erm... and Thorne ;) And all the Fairie and Otherworld artist creators, as well as our creations to a degree. When I am developing a character, usually I listen overly much to a certain song, and that tends to be later what I associate with that character. This song will forever be what I associate this Elf, and his companions (yes there are three more waiting in the wings) with ;) The song is sung by Steeleye Span and is on one of their CD's, "Please to See the King". It is available at Amazon.com if your local record shops cannot obtain it for you :) Their version is splendid and is the only one I have ever heard, though it is an ancient medieval song, and I have heard there are other versions out there someplace :)

Mehndi ( ) posted Mon, 21 January 2002 at 1:16 PM

I took a bit of liberties with the lyrics above to customize them to my own liking... ;) It is the Bard in me, I canna' help it ;p Here are the real lyrics... Bedlam Boys For to see mad Tom of Bedlam Ten thousand miles I'd travel Mad Maudlin goes on dirty toes For to save her shoes from gravel Chorus Still I sing bonnie boys, bonnie mad boys Bedlam boys are bonnie, For they all go bare and they live by the air And they want no drink nor money I went down to Satan's kitchen For to get me food one morning And there I got souls piping hot All on the spit a-turning Chorus Me staff has murdered giants And me bag a long knife carries For to cut mince pies from children's thighs With which to feed the fairies Chorus This spirit's white as lightning Would on me travels guide me The moon would shake and the stars would quake When ever they espied me Chorus And when that I have murdered The man in the moon to a powder His staff I'll break and his dog I'll shake And there'll howl no demon louder Chorus For to see mad Tom of Bedlam Ten thousand years I'd travel Mad Maudlin goes on dirty toes For to save her shoes from gravel Chorus

EricTorstenson ( ) posted Mon, 21 January 2002 at 2:33 PM

I have a Steeleye Span CD (or two), but not that song. If you ever get a chance, "The Ol' Blind Dogs" do a version (not sure which CD, possibly their first, whatever it is called...I can find out tonight if you are interested) which is amazing. I suspect you would probably like them (as long as it isn't with their newest line up) since they incorporate a lot of the same elements as those groups from the early 70s (rugged folk, but not quite rock sort of thing). I got no idea where you get their CD (we opened up for them, and I bought their CD then) but someone surely sells them. Thistle & Shamrock has played this very song (where I first found out about them) and others many times, if you are a fan.

nikitacreed ( ) posted Mon, 21 January 2002 at 3:04 PM

Ooooooh! An upgrade to UltraSalon? COOL! Do we previous owners on UltraSalon get a discount? ;o) Seriously...I will definitely be looking forward to UltraSalon II! =OD When is it coming out?

Mehndi ( ) posted Mon, 21 January 2002 at 3:13 PM

Nikita, I am not sure about a discount, though I am considering some free things that no one else gets for those who purchase both the Elf package and UltraSalon II - ElvenCourt. It is still in discussion at Daz :) I am still cobbling away on UltraSalon II. It is vast and large with many options, and I am working on refining the IK of the braids (yes, plural), and some of the morphs :) I believe though, the plan is to release both the Elf and the full hair package simultaneously, or as close together as I may :) Here is a bit of a breakdown between the two versions of hair :) The features between the two versions of hair are vast. Here is a breakdown: WoodElf LE version: No bangs, no sidelocks, no backside locks, no topwisps, no ponytail in back, only one braid, only three simple posing morphs for the back, only one haircolor, only fits Michael well. Will only really work with very simple poses, mostly standing upright poses, without alot of head swivel (unless you feel like doing your own morphs). Full UltraSalon II - ElvenCourt version: Bangs, sidelocks, backside locks, topwisps, ponytail, two braids, all of these parts may be mixed and matched to create many different looks via turning their morphs and/or mat invisibility settings on and off. Many morphs for more posing versatility in all parts, particularly in the backlengths of the hair. Fittings for Michael, Vicki, and Millenium Girls. Nine hair colors, a few hair props...and whatever else I can think up that I have the skill to make and include ;)

nikitacreed ( ) posted Mon, 21 January 2002 at 3:15 PM

Thanks so much for the breakdown Mehndi. I am drooling! I can't wait for the release! BTW: I was kidding about the discount. See my winking smile? ;o) LOL!

Mehndi ( ) posted Mon, 21 January 2002 at 3:46 PM

BTW, I am just sooooooo envious of you Steve, I would so love to have ever seen Steeleye Span in concert :) And thanks Rena and Steve for the kind words, coming from you two it means alot :)
