Just got home from a visit to PC world and they have the Cosmo CD with a digital camera for 34.99 it'll only do 320x240 but still pretty good for the price.....thought I'd let you all know........Steve

Thats the same price it was here......i better explain :o) they where all marked as 69.99 (which is about $100) but one was marked at 39.99 then the lady came along with the machine and marked them all down to 39.99 so with luck yours will get the same reduction........still at 100bucks its still not to bad though I wouldn't think the pics will be good enough for anything but happy snaps maybe a camera wizard can give us more info.........Steve

Just think about it..you don't have to be a camera wiz to figure it out. 320x240!!! Just try a render at that resolution! Not bad if all you want to do is make postage stamps. Believe it or not, you DO get what you pay for. :) Digital cameras have almost reached the "giveaway" phase for the original chips...you can get free computers also...not that you would actually WANT to do anything with them! 320x240 is too small for anything but goofing around.. That's why the camera is included with the Makeover kit and not sold alone. :) Still should be fun for messing around though. If you ever want to get a digital camera for taking real pictures you want one that does at least 1024x768. That is the low end of the scale these days. Most of the new ones coming out do 1280x960 and even up to 1600x1200.

I also reckon it's worth getting optical zoom if you can, though that generally pushes the price up. No doubt in two years time they'll be half the price or less.

I bought the JamCam (just for fun) and it can't get the driver to communicate with the computer. It has a resolution about twice the Cosmo one. It just doesn't want to talk to my computer. I'm shopping around for a real one. I want something that doesn't require a cable to download the pictures. Any good advice? Melanie

I work for Polaroid whose camera it is on the Cosmo box. Since I support digital cameras for a living and I like you guys too much, let me say....do not waste your money. The resolution is to low to do anything but fool around. There is a poor serial connection, worse software and no Mac version. Based on what I have seen come out during this holiday season re digital cameras you can do a lot better for the same money. I strongly recomend no one buy anything less than 1 megapixel in size, LED screen and removable storage card. And watch out for cameras using cheap plastic lenses. jje

Thanks, JJE, for the advice. I want one that doesn't require a cable hook-up, but has the removable card that can be placed in a floppy disk adaptor. Melanie

Well not to blow Polaroid's horn but check out the new PDC 1100 1MgPixel, b/w & color, 4 resolutions, removable storage, led screen. about $300 Also check the auction sites (UBid) for the PDC 3000 which has fewer features but goes for real cheap is is really all you need. jje
