Hi, From bitter personal experience, (Currently ongoing) I can tell you that XP, while good, is not infallable. I'm running XP pro, vanila, no tweaks, or unsigned drivers, Norton, virus software, all XP specific, defragged. It still deleted my CD driver during a free space cleanup, and is still in an unknown, if stable state, and that's after I've been through the official "XP pro for admins" book, the (very good) help system, and all the diagnostics: "contact system vendor" Oh, it still "blue screens" too, takes longer to get there, and comes back up again afterwards, (impressive) but it still blue screens. installing everything, (every patch) is also a bad idea, the recent security upgrade killed a whole range of USB devices, (web cameras, etc.) stone dead, no explanation has been forthcoming. Check the link, and do *NOT* upgrade lightly. On the plus side, poser continued to work, regardless of the state of the OS, or the availability of the CD. later jb
