Welcome, youre right: theyre just words, and we shouldnt fear words. I have to listen to derogatives like fag, queer, and the like every day, and they no longer carry any of the impact they once did. But yesterday I was in line at the bank. Ahead of me was this guy -- about 19 or 20 -- talking on his cel phone. Behind me was an elderly lady about 70. The "gentleman" was saying, "S*** that! F*** that!" at just about every turn, and you could tell that, for him, it was no big deal. However, the poor woman behind me, who probably would have prefered not to hear such language, was becoming more and more uncomfortable. So, I said something. He was appropriately embarrassed. We had a good laugh, and that was it. He continued his conversation but was a little more careful about what he said, out of deference to the woman behind me. Now Im sure that once he got outside, he went back to his F*** this/S*** that way of talking, so it wasnt like anyone was restraining him. But he realized, as we all should sometimes, that theres a difference between freedom of speech and simple good manners. And good manners never hurt anyone. As for the original message (or, as Dame Anna would say, "Remember the Ring?"), its my understanding that some people have been having connection problems with Rsity of late. Perhaps this is part of it?
