Just took a shot at merging a Poser 4 figure with an old photo...what do you think? -Darth_Logice

The tone of the B&W doesn't match, but it's a good try.

Nice, and a very very good try. The problem with old photographs is that they get very faded - you'd need to try and match the degree of fade on the figure to the photo. Also, the shadow is "off". Look at the background figures - there's virtually no shadow from any of them. Shayda is casting far too sharp a shadow. You might want to add grain and blur to the figure too to try and match up with the very grainy photograph. Paul

I agree with Paul. A nice attempt but begs a bigger question... why would a picture of old Detroit have the word SEX all over it?... Oh.. wait... maybe it's burnt into my screen... no... it moves when I scroll... whew... had me going there for a moment. Not to detract from the idea of the combination... it's a great method... and no disrespect intended... just dying to know. It looks like a lot of work went into trying to irradicate the word. :)

BillBay...very astute! Taking a cue from Uncle Walt here, (that is, Walt Disney.) A friend of mine once pointed out in several Walt Disney films and on box art the embedded use of the word sex. He tried to just tell me about it, but I didn't believe him...so one movie after another he pulled out and popped into the vcr and proceeded to make a presentation out of it. Sure enough, indisputably, film after film demonstrated the reality of this (and the box art too.) Well, this turned into a full-fledged study by me...and suffice it to say it's not just Disney (though he may have pioneered the technique) it can also be found in advertisements, magazine photography (think Playboy) and even live-action movies. (Oh, and album covers) IN other words...Media, period. In this pic, I obviously crossed the line between subtle and bold. The embeds should only be seen after VERY close scrutiny and a relaxed focous of the eyes...(con't)

Typically, in a professional project, the embeds are not forged out of pure text. Rather, they are blended as a piece of scenery (though text is often the case but with types of fonts I don't have.) An example would be in Cinderella. About 1/2 way into the film, the Prince's men come calling to Cinderella's house. Behind the men, as the door is opened, is a fence way in the background (an Iron fence) Well, the curls of the fence clearly make out the word sex, but chances are you never saw it because it's off-center and not the main subject of the screen. A text example would be a cardboard "standee" of Barney the Dinosaur I once had the privilage of seeing every day at work. If you got in close and studied the felt texture of Barney's felt costume, you could see the word sex made up the texture in all different sizes. Playboy likes to hide the word in Model's hair. McDonalds likes to put it onto a picture of a cheeseburger in newspaper coupons (along with all kinds of death imagery (skulls and stuff). Alcohol ads...oh my god. All kinds of things can be seen swirling around in a alchohol ad. (even more)

... So, there ya have it. I suppose in a competitive free-market, this is done to make things more "interesting" on a deeper level. Whether or not it truly has that effect is another issue, but I figure it's the key difference between a professional piece and a piece that is "trying" to be professional. (Not that this piece is professional, mind you ;) ) -darth

She looks scrumptious. I love her! Love her outfit too! More! I wanna get that cute biker hat. It seems like a slightly overcast day at high noon, going by the horses. Can't quite make out the cyclist shadow, too much funny business going on in that area. I would never have seen the subliminal "sex" textures had they not been pointed out. I'm skeptical if that technique works, and anyway just the pose and the outfit creates that reaction in a much more overt way.
