Not having a texture for the in layer makes some sense as being on the inside you wouldnt see it. I would guess the inner layer is only for the fringeing at the bottom and only needs a colour set on it. Dont use highlights on anything where the edges are supposed to be completely transparent, set it to black RGB = 0,0,0
