Subject: I demand my free mystery model NOW!

TalmidBen ( ) posted Sat, 16 February 2002 at 1:27 AM · edited Thu, 27 February 2025 at 1:00 AM

Lol. I just thought it would be funny to "demand" the mystery model, as if I had some "right" to it or something, like an ungrateful kid. Praise God that Daz is so generous, and talented. What would we do without Mike and Vicky?! Ben http://www.MessianicArt.com

A bit of the chipmunks there.. ya know..

"Aren't you the least bit curious as to why it is taking them so long....there have already been many new items posted at DAZ since the announcement of the Mystery Model. So why is this one taking so long?" Yes, I'm curious about what it is. Yes, the anticipation is driving me crazy. What makes me even more crazy is the way some people complain about free items. I know why it's taking so long. It's taking so long because it's something really wonderful for those that will have use for whatever it is, and they want to make sure it's perfect before giving it to us. I also know that some people are not going to have much use for whatever it is and start bitching and moaning about how useless it is. Sometimes this group is the biggest bunch of spoiled brats I've ever seen.

I'd like to make it public, that when Ron posts "we" his royal "we" does not include me. Ron, speak for yourself only please. I'll do my own talking. Your value judgments, opinions and veiled insults are yours alone. And I think Jeff and Scott can monitor the group effectively.

geoegress ( ) posted Sat, 16 February 2002 at 10:30 AM

I suspect that "freestuf gets worked on when the(a) modler has nothing else to do at WORK. Low priority. It is a Business, ya know.

well for something that started out as tounge in cheek, it seems to have degenerated a bit. sorry folks.

MadYuri ( ) posted Sat, 16 February 2002 at 2:35 PM

Rrrrrr... I miss my C&D. Now I have to look through 10 Forums to find the juicy threads. ;)

movida ( ) posted Sat, 16 February 2002 at 2:49 PM

MadYuri: It won't get any juicier g, I've said what I had to say. Movida, (and Movida alone)

MadYuri ( ) posted Sat, 16 February 2002 at 3:10 PM

@Movida: That was an general remark, without any relation to this or every other thread in the Poser forum, Renderosity or the internet at large. ;]

I can't model a paper bag if I wanted to so I would prefer to WAIT and them do it good rather than rush and haress them to where they throw something cra*y at the 'whinning little brats'. Not to mention, I would like them to consider this again in the future instead of remembering what a pain in the a it became this time.

melanie ( ) posted Sat, 16 February 2002 at 9:15 PM

I think it's just a matter of DAZ being so excited about this great Mystery Model that they sort of jumped the gun a bit and announced it a little too soon before it was ready. Maybe they should have waited a little longer before dangling the virtual carrot in front of our noses and getting us all excited. I know it'll be something exciting. Anyone remember the free camel a few years ago? It was sort of the same deal. It should be pretty soon now, I'm sure. They do such great work, I know it'll be something well worth the wait. Melanie

wyrwulf ( ) posted Sat, 16 February 2002 at 9:27 PM

I see two good things due to the fact that the Mystery Model is "late". One, DAZ has said that their staff keeps coming up with more goodies to add to it, so it should be really something when it is finally released, and, two, the Michael 2 sale is still going on and will be until the Mystery Model is released, which is probably the longest sale in DAZ/Zygote history.

TalmidBen ( ) posted Sat, 16 February 2002 at 10:57 PM

"Sometimes this group is the biggest bunch of spoiled brats I've ever seen." I hope everyone, especially Daz3D(!), knows that I was JOKING with the title of this thread. Daz can take as long as they like. Daz is a great company.

Momcat ( ) posted Sat, 16 February 2002 at 11:21 PM

What I said was not in response to you ( I knew it was a joke>^_~), it was in response to another post that has apparently been deleted, and the myriad of other threads I have seen over the years with people seemingly having the attitude that the world owes them a favor, complaining about free items.

TalmidBen ( ) posted Sat, 16 February 2002 at 11:46 PM

Oh yes, I agree!

ScottA ( ) posted Sun, 17 February 2002 at 12:17 AM

Simply type something like this: "Sometimes this group is the biggest bunch of spoiled brats I've ever seen." Please don't use words like this folks. Even if you're certain the person is a troublemaker. Cherokee69 was just stating his/her opinion just like you all are doing. Please allow people to say things you don't agree with without taking it personally. Everyone has a right to their own opinions. Nobody is any more right or wrong than anyone else. When I see things like this happen. It sends a chill down my spine. Please try to tolerate eachother. ScottA P.S.- I've said worse things than this when I wasn't a moderator here. So I'm not casting any stones. I'm simply trying to look out for everyone who visits here now.

There's an old saying, "Good things come to those who wait." I'm always willing to wait if it's going to be a better product. I always felt that the original Vicki 1 was released too soon. Remember, she didn't have any morphs and folks got their tails in a knot over it? So, I really think that, if we have a little patience, we'll be well rewarded with a top-notch product. And, I think that DAZ probably feels the pressure with all the talk about it. Once we have it in our hot little hands, we can play with it to our hearts' content. The suspense is killing me, but hey, it's a gift, so I'm not going to complain. I'm really looking forward to it. And, besides, the mystery surrounding it is kind of fun. It'll be like opening a Christmas or birthday present when it arrives. Hmmm, my birthday is coming up in March; maybe it'll come in time for that. ;) Melanie

melanie ( ) posted Sun, 17 February 2002 at 12:39 PM

Ron, my birthday is March 29, 1950, so we're almost twins. The original Vicki came out just around my birthday a couple of years ago so I bought her for myself. :) Melanie

igohigh ( ) posted Sun, 17 February 2002 at 1:50 PM

Awwwwh relief I was almost afraid to look in on this thread again, but it's a happy family again! ;-P Bring it on DAZ, we're hanging on the edge of our seats!!

SergeantJack ( ) posted Tue, 19 February 2002 at 10:24 PM

Maybe the Mystery Model is.....Poser 5!!! :)

melanie ( ) posted Wed, 20 February 2002 at 7:51 AM

LOL, I think Poser 5 is worth a bit more than that. Didn't they say the Mystery Model had a $30 value or something? But we can dream, can't we? Melanie

SergeantJack ( ) posted Wed, 20 February 2002 at 4:47 PM

Shhh! I'm scrinching my eyes shut and wishing real hard. Don't interrupt me.

Petunia ( ) posted Wed, 20 February 2002 at 6:31 PM

Let me know if that works! Scrinching eye shut...

geoegress ( ) posted Wed, 20 February 2002 at 8:04 PM

Weather its good or bad, with all this pre-publicity can you imagine what there bandwidth will be, wow

itisitex ( ) posted Thu, 11 April 2002 at 7:25 PM

the mystery model is the steph character based off of mikes geometry

SergeantJack ( ) posted Thu, 11 April 2002 at 7:27 PM

Itisitex...wow....you don't miss a trick, do you?

melanie ( ) posted Thu, 11 April 2002 at 8:29 PM

LOL! Just for the record, this is a fairly old thread that was posted before Stephanie was revealed. Melanie

MadYuri ( ) posted Fri, 12 April 2002 at 1:23 AM

Hehe, long time not see. Lets have a party. ;)

itisitex ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 1:57 AM

the Steph model is a great character since most of vicky's stuff works on her plus you can have fun by adding mike's textures to it

melanie ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 7:44 AM

And she has a completely different face from Vicki. Not every person in real life is based from the same mold. It's nice to have a completely different fiugre to work with. Now, if they would add one new male character, our little universe would be populated by very diverse people. Melanie

itisitex ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 5:52 PM

true but the new male model should be based on vicky's geometry to make it a perfect world

Hiram ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 6:17 PM

You haven't seen Dina yet, have you?

itisitex ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 6:35 PM

dina is a man eeewwwwww yuck sex change is wrong and EVIL

melanie ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 7:55 PM

Actually, Dina is a whole new figure created by some folks at Runtime DNA (I think, but I could be wrong) and is not based on any DAZ figure. She's not based on a male figure, but was created from scratch. Some people have commented that she has a somewhat masculine appearance. I don't really think so. I haven't bought her, but I've seen her and she is more like an average person. Not a supermodel, just a regular person type. I haven't seen anyone do much with her lately. I guess Michael 2, Vicki 2, and Stephanie sort of upstaged her recently. And, she doesn't wear any of their clothes, so people have to buy all new things for her. I think that was sort of a downfall for her. Melanie

itisitex ( ) posted Mon, 15 April 2002 at 11:35 PM

so your saying dina is a woman and that she never was a guy nor that she will become a guy cool i will check her out then

melanie ( ) posted Tue, 16 April 2002 at 7:38 AM

And it seems that none of the regular clothes makers (i.e., Steve Shanks, Jim Burton, Anton Kisiel, etc.) had no interest in making clothes to fit her. Some people claimed that she had too many polygons or something, too. But yes, Itisitex, Dina never was a man nor were there plans to make her into one. Stephanie, however, is based on Michael's mesh, but you can't tell. She's very feminine. Dina was just a third-party attempt to add to the Poser populatlion by creating a new figure, but she never really gained as much popularity as Vicki, Mike, and now Stephanie. I considered buying her, just to have a different looking figure to work with, but I didn't really want to spend the money on her. There's nothing gross looking or weird about her. She's different from Vicki, but, as I said above, she's just not a "supermodel" type. She's more of a standard person, like someone who might work in your office or your nextdoor neighbor. Sort of pretty, but not a raving beauty. Melanie

melanie ( ) posted Tue, 16 April 2002 at 7:33 PM

I think what a lot of people commented on was her broad shoulders. Someone once called them "football shoulders." I saw some pretty good renders using her, but not very many. I don't know if Vicki 2 came in and upstaged her or what. Now Stephanie has stepped into the picture and Dina has been pretty much all but forgotten. For me, it was a budget thing. I just couldn't afford her at the time, considering that she needed her own clothes and accessories. There were other things I wanted more, so I had to choose between them. I would love to see some new male figures added to the mix, though. It seems, when anyone decides to create a new character, it's always a woman. I hope we can see some new men coming along the way in the future. Melanie
