Guys used to use a hex editor to do stuff like search on the text string in the EXE that has the version information "Poser 4.0.3.117" (or whatever) and change it to a higher number, and crow "I've got a newer version of (whtever) on my site than anybody else". They also were changing the address in shareware stuff where you send the money to their address. Got so bad that some of the guys stared putting checksum stuff in the programs so if any of the text strings were altered it wouldn't run. I wonder if Poser does any checksums of the bits and bytes?
