Thanks. Is anyone using this? And if anyone also has Deep Paint 3D with Texture Weapons how does it compare? Marque

Yes, there's a huge thread about UVMP in here somewhere.

UV Mapper Pro is great! I'm really happy with it. I haven't explored all its features yet, but there are two things I have tried and the program worked very well: 1. You can work on a texture in a 2D paint program (e.g. Painter, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, etc.) and have the UVMPro window open on top of your paint program, showing the texture on your model. You make a change in your texture, hit some keys, and presto! you can see the changed texture on your model. You can turn the model around, zoom in, zoom out. 2. Many times when you make a prop in a 3D modelling program and bring it in Poser it somehow just doesn't look right. UVMPro can help in this, too! E.g. I had a shield that I made in trueSpace, but when I brought it in Poser the surface of the shield wasn't nice and smooth but wavy. UVMPro could fix that problem and now the shield looks perfect in Poser. There are 4 tutorials on the website which tell you how to do things, one of them deals with this issue. So I can really recommend the program, I'm very happy with it. The free demo version doesn't save and the Pro version is about $50, but I think it's worth it. Hope this helps! :) Sue

Attached Link: http://www.geocities.com/lithunwrap/

try this, it has some of the same features as UVM-pro. this guy has frequent bandwidth problems but keep trying.

Well I downloaded the demo and tried the tutorial but I can't check it out because it's the demo. I thought you could check out the program and just not save. I won't be dropping any money until I see how it works. Marque

Tried again and it won't work unless I get a serial number. Sorry Steve, guess I'll be going with lithunwrap Marque

You can try out all the remapping features, but that doesn't include the 2D app stuff.

odeathoflife ( ) posted Sun, 24 February 2002 at 1:43 AM

yeah but the lith doesn't do poser? Is there a patch somewhere that includes this or no?

yes I discovered this recently too, it loses the materials & grouping for some reason. But it can be useful anyway.

Sue88 ( ) posted Sun, 24 February 2002 at 7:48 AM

What feature do you want to try out? If it's the texturing and checking how it'll look on the model, you can do that with the demo, just not as easily. You can make your texture change, save it, then load the texture in UVMPro and see how it will be on the model. I think you can also do the fixing of the edges part with the demo. Yes, you can't save your work. It would have been better if the program allowed you a limited number of saves in order to be able to fully evaluate the features. But I can tell you that the program works great for me, and if you have any problems, I am sure that Steve will be there to help.

If you don't need the newest features of UVMPro, you can still download the free UV Mapper Classic on the same website.

Marque, UVMapper pro is really good. It's more then worth the price. :)

gryffnn ( ) posted Sun, 24 February 2002 at 9:06 PM

Marque, I got Pro and I really like it. Haven't tried it as a 3D viewer with PhotoShop yet, but will soon. And looking forward to having more tutorials posted. Elisa/gryffnn

Does it update as you draw or do you have to refresh it to see the change to the model? In other words, if I draw on the map do I see the change as I'm drawing it? Thanks, Marque

Sue88 ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2002 at 8:18 AM

No, you don't see the change right as you're drawing it. The way it works in Photoshop is this: (First, you check "Auto Update" in UVM Pro) 1. You make your change 2. Select All -> Copy (or, if you have layers, Copy Merged) 3. The change shows on your model in UVM Pro. You can also set up a macro in Photoshop, so then instead of doing those two things involved in step #2, you just hit F2 or F3. (I only have Photoshop LE, and it doesn't do macros, so I have to do all the steps myself, but it's no big deal.) It would be great if you you could see the changes right as you're making them, but it's still much better than having to make the change, saving it, loading it in Poser, and rendering to see if you need to change something. It's especially important when you have to carefully line up patterns. Hope this helps! :) Sue

Marque ( ) posted Mon, 25 February 2002 at 12:57 PM

Yes, it does help Sue. I have been playing with Texture Weapons and it does update as you paint so I think I will stay with it for now. Appreciate the help. Marque

You're very welcome. Texture Weapons sounds great. :) Sue
