Of course I can't resist mentioning that you can make any type of MAT/MOR file automatically with CR2Edit, I have commercial clients making 150 at a sitting... http://www.zenwareonline.com/cr2edit/tutorials/MATMAPMOR.html This is way out of date, many more types have been added, including subdivision, joint, scaling.
