I have been going the opposite way from Laurie, but it's the same idea. I have been using Poser renders on 2D faces in Bryce. It saves render time (by a ton!), eliminates fixing all the textures, and resolves most lighting issues provided you rendered your poser scene with your Bryce lighting in mind. Two pieces in my gallery use this technique:
