Hi, Imagine is quite a powerful program, with a very good support for procedural textures and polygonal modeling. I've been using it for some 5 years or so. I doubt I can't count myself as a newbie anymore, but taken the fact that it has been around from late eighties (in a form or another), and the amount of ppl who have used it from the very beginning, I'm still feeling a kind of a youngster around. I've used it both as hobbyist and freelance artist, everything from characer modeling and boning to magazine cover. I've been using Renderosity to show my work for some years, and think that the scoring and commenting system is quite a good thing. For me it'd be a great thing to see Imagine gain more publicity. Along with very small investment by Impulse to maketing, one of the main reasons for the lack of general knowledge of Imagine seems to be the fact, that Imagine users seem to "stay close together" (no offense meant, don't even know if that's the right term...). Of course it's a good thing mostly, but there are some problems. One doesn't see a lot of Imagine made work around, unless you happen to know where to find it, know IML, and know IML Ring. There are quite a good bunch of Imagine users, but not that many who send their work to public galleries. Most announce new work at IML, and that's it. Now it appears that there's luckily been some change. And I hope that more ppl see the idea of Renderosity and kind, as a good way to get some publicity for their work, and also for their software. It'd be nice to have a Imagine specified Gallery here, a forum wouldn't hurt either. And until that hopefully happens, one can always send their work to the other app gallery, following Kevin Manktelows idea of adding "Imagine:" to the picture title.
