Dream Spinner, The answer is yes. Giggle. But really. If you just want to change the color either one will do. They both can be changed just using the paint bucket tool. They are also both around the same size (same mesh used). But if you want an extreme close up then using a texture map is the way to go. That way you can get some nice detail.( The mesh is somewhat detailed, but not great for an extreame close up) I hope this helps.
