As far as the concept goes I say I really like it. As a DM of now 27 years I have very defined ideas of paladinhood, dwarves, and characters. With that said here's what I think (disregard whatever you like). The Armor itself is about right, Dwarven paladins in my AD&D world would consider themselves well dressed with the armor you are using. I have always taken the "Dwarven approch" to armor, very functional but not much on style. It fit well but looked more like trashcans with fluting. I took this idea since dwarves are the end all for defense. The armor I think of for dwarves can "lock" as in if the dwarf is in a fight and he wants to have the better protection, he can "Scrunch" inside his armor. This pulls the parts together and makes a tighter fit, and leaves next to no gaps. The down side of that is that the wearer cannot move mich except this/her arms to attack. This feature is a main reason dwarves (In my world) are hard to beat, if they lock down, that says the dwarf is not going to leave, and will not back down. The armor your dwarf is wearing doesn't allow that. However it does fulfill one of the bigger requirement od being a paladin. Since they enforce the will and law of thier deity, and supposedly act in thier name. Paladins must look the look, and walk the walk. The armor choice you have made, for a dwarf, fits that aspect very nicley. I don't think any dwarven deity would be ashamed to call this beloved warrior their own. The colors and fluting well depict the dwarven ideals, The grey of the rich earth, and the silver trim showing the precious veins of meatal intertwined within, both a part of and seperate from the earth. In My AD&D world all Paladins and Illregors are outfitted to impress, even starting out. If they have the best to start with, they can worry only about the evil they must quell, and the their faith in thier deity, not groping around looking to better deal thier armor. The only problem I see (According to me) is his beard. As it is now it will not do. He has no braids, not battle knots. There is no reference to his family and it's history in his beard. To me, a dwarf's beard is his standard, it tells about him/her, what family they come, what deity they serve. In short it is who they are. Granted I know that this fellow is an in work project, and you are not done. But i heard dwarf, the first place i look is the beard. So I can determine what and how he is. As he is right now, (Again , in my ad&d world) Other dwarves would say he was rised by humans, and knows nothing about the armor he wears or the ideas the fluting represents. If that was your idea, then I have to tip my had to do you on that you did a master stroke. On the whole, where you are at right now is pretty good, you have captured a bit of the spirit of the dwarf in armor. Take my suggestions and observations as you will. I mean no dis-respect for what you have done, for you have done well. Now, back to your forge armoer, and complete his warriors skin, he will need it. lalverson
Hello, thank you all for your nice complimets. Soulhuntre: I will have a look an the real eyes. Do they replace just the eyeball or the whole eye region? Laverson: Thank you again for your great response I agree regarding the beard. Do you have any suggestions where I can find a good dwarven beard? I dont feel up to the task of modeling ad texturing one myself. But maybe I will try anyway. Regrading the Armor: I am glad you liked the impression I tried to create. What you said about the look of Armor was exactly what I was thinking. The Armor is intentionally not as strong and heavy as one would expect from a dwarven paladin. The reason is in the concept of the character I am playing. He has sworn an oath to wander for 100 years and fight evil, not settling down. As a wanderer, he chose a lighter armor.
The onky beard I know of that would start to come close would be Anton's beard at daz. because since it is a figure beads and stuff could be parented to it. Past that, you'll have to make one. The concept is solid for the character. dwarves just love to give their word on stuff. Espeacially if it's darn near impossible.
If you are looking for references to make the armor a little less blocky, try these: http://armsofvalour.com/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=AOVL&Category_Code=A1 http://redfalcon.home.mindspring.com/catalog.html http://www.mackenziesmith.com/Our_Products/Plate_Armor/Complete_Suits/Gothic_Armor/gothic_armor.html These are just a few, but should give you some idea about the gauntlets and greaves. I look forward to seeing the final product!
