Well Maya is in no way "DAZ's own" file format. Poser will not even accept a Maya (.mb) native file so I have to export as an OBJ to import into Poser. Maya is a very robust modeling tool and setting up UVs and materials is certainly possible, just on occasion what I have exported didn't look exactly like what I thought it would look like. If Poser had made a connection to Maya in the same way they have with 3D Studio Max I would be in hog heaven. Milkshape on the other hand is ultra simple and the material settings translate exactly into Poser with no concern of problems. What you see in Milkshape is exactly what you will get in Poser. Even with this the decision is strictly based on ease of use.
