Because they are lame and decided to lay off more than 100 people from their graphics division (2 weeks b4 Xmas) and put Poser up on the auction block, in favor of their much more profit generating "metastreaming" software; which is projected to be a big hit with ecommerce sites etc. Larry Weinberg, the creator of Poser has provided this patch for all users out of the pure kindness of his heart.
