I can tell you that Verisign has the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. You can always get ahold of someone, but they seldom can do anything for you. They made this mistake with my domain name (something about it disappearing or being wrong in the whois database) and now it will take 24-48 hours to get fixed??!?!? And all I got as I went up the line was the same answer. There's nothing we can do. I also got into an argument with them when I changed the ownership on my domain. The registration was due and their checkout online wouldn't let me proceed to change the name unless it was paid up. So I paid online. THEN (and only then) as I went through the system, it said that I could be charged again after the ownership change. I figured since I had just paid for 2 years they wouldn't chage me. WRONG! They tried to bill me again. I tried to discuss it with about 4 different people who just kept telling me that since I was a new owner, I had to pay. Finally I had to call AMEX and tell them the first charge was unauthorized. Then I tried to pay online for the two years (they were having a promotion at the time for 2 years for $56. And they've always given you 10% off for paying for 2 years). The system wouldn't let me. I had to call them up with the invoice they mailed me and do it over the phone. Now this invoice billed me for $70. No 10% off for 2 years, no promotional price. I argued with them for an hour and finally gave up. But as soon as I find a registrar that I feel comfortable with, I will switch. I will not be doing any more business with these people.
